Quick fixes

- Got thoughts going round in your head? Stuck on something? Set a timer for 20 minutes and write uninterrupted until the timer goes off
- For me stream-of-consciousness prose usually works best, as though I’m interviewing myself, but sometimes bullet points or an unstructured brainstorm with sticky notes is better
- This could be electronic or simple pen and paper, either works for me
- Shredding the paper or deleting the file immediately afterwards can help: you can be more honest with yourself if you can guarantee no-one else will ever read it
- Take a stim break
- I don’t even know what this means for me!
- Use music/noise generators to manipulate your energy levels & emotional state
- When tired & needing more energy: rock, synthwave, power pop, upbeat trad
- When distracted & needing to concentrate: electronic (no lyrics)
- Have a headache? Take some painkillers
- Have a shower & put on some clean clothes
- Play with a fidget toy
- Take a breath or two
- Grab a weighted lap pad/shoulder cushion
